Dr Ate Dijkstra is lector in iHuman – Health Care Digital. He heads the knowledge network, in which various experts deploy their knowledge and experience for education, research and innovation in their particular field of study.

Ate Dijkstra (1950) worked as a computer programmer until 1975, after which he made the transition to the healthcare sector. In 1978, he completed his psychiatric nursing study. Dijkstra graduated in Educational Theory from the University of Groningen in 1990, and then completed his PhD thesis at the Medical Faculty in Groningen in 1998.

Since 1998, he has been attached as senior researcher to the Graduate School for Health Research (SHARE) at the University of Groningen. From 1979 to 2015, he worked at Noorderbreedte, an elderly care organisation. Dijkstra has held many positions within nursing education, management and support staff. He currently works two days a week as a lector at the iHuman - Health Care Digital lectorate of NHL University of Applied Sciences.
